PERFUME
In order for the figs that we know and love to exist a wasp has to die inside of it. Figs are inverted flowers and have a symbiotic relationship with the fig wasps. The male figs are a nest for the eggs of the wasps and coat all the babies in their pollen when their born. If a wasp where to fly into a female fig they are stripped of their wings and antennas from the tight opening and deliver the pollen. They die alone as the fig digests them and creates the fruit.
Fig Wasp is a spicy green fruity scent. At the top you have fresh cut grass and greenery that gives way the to the heart of spicy fig leaves with a venomous bite.

An ode to Jeanne Mammen, an artist active in early 20th century documenting the unique queer scene of Berlin after WW1. She acted as a fly on the wall at cafes and clubs, illustrating the burgeoning city life. Berlin at the time was seen as an unrepairable den of sin. That left space for queer folk to make lives for themselves unburdened by the conservative masses.
Bright violet strikes through the cold mossy cobblestone streets. The lights of a small café pierce through the dark night drawing her into its warmth. Café Nollendorf the sign read. A single violinist played in the corner for the small crowd, most of them not paying attention. Two women taken by the somber song slow dance looking deeply into each others eyes. Jeanne settles at a table, inhales the smoky ambiance of the café, and starts to draw.

With Cape Disappointment I wanted to create something truly reminiscent of the PNW coast in the fall. Sweet fir balsam, fir needle, cedar wood and cypress are the woody foundation that the scent is built on, bringing to life the coastal forests. The seaweed absolute, salt accord and an ambergris reconstruction combine to evoke the delightful stink that the ocean has but is often omitted from oceanic perfumes.
Breath deep and be taken to the rocky beaches where the clouds extend to the horizon. Who's cliff side trees grow with the ocean wind bending back, forever at the mercy of a force far greater than them. Sit in the sand bundled in the warmth of your jacket and listen to the waves crash to shore.

A love letter to media from my childhood. Youths on skates terrorizing the city with Graffiti and loud music. Electric punk energy pumped right into my young mind through brain melting screens. The feeling of racing down a steep hill and the board starting to wobbling under your feet. Memories of summer breaks with friends, broke and always finding trouble.
I wanted to create the most electric version of a downtown city center filled with color and culture. The top is dominated by a fruit spiked spray paint accord that is shockingly pleasant. As it dries down it stays fruity and bright but with some dirty edges. Osmanthus absolute is often thought as the bridge between floral and animal. Apricot floral top notes slowly transform into its rich leathery base adding an edge to the otherwise bright scent. Hot metal grinding rails materialize as the spray paint dies back, reverberating their stored heat. Peak summer in the city distilled down into its most idyllic form.
